Canada vs USA CO2 trends by Barry Saxifrage
For decades, Canada's emissions growth has outpaced the USA's.

USA's CO2 emissions appear to have peaked in 2005 and are starting to fall. While Canada has consistently said it would match reduction targets exactly with USA, it has not keep pace with USA's slowing and declining trends. Now the two countries are running in the opposite direction towards a shared 2020 finish line.

The gap is even greater at the per-capita level. Americans have cut climate emissions 7% per person since 1990. Canadians have increased each person's share 7% since 1990.

Canadian will have to now make up this lost ground in the race with Americans. But while USA government is spending heavily on green projects and pushing carbon laws through...the Canadian government is doing nothing effective to prepare its citizens in time.
