Canada has agreed to cut around a quarter of their GHG emissions in the next ten years. On a per person basis, the Canadian national average is around 19 tonnes per capita per year. That will need to fall to 14 tonnes per person per year or lower in the next decade. As this chart shows there is a huge range in emissions per person from one province to the next. Most Canadians are already living in provinces with per capita emissions very close to or even far below that 2020 target. Alberta and Saskatchewan have per person footprints that are 500% above that level.
