Oil sands create very few Canadian jobs and very little Canadian wealth per tonne of CO2. With Prime Minister Harper committing our economy to reducing tonnes of CO2, maximizing jobs and dollars per tonne of CO2 will now be required. The oil sands used 4% of Canada CO2 in 2005 and plan to use 18% in 2020. Is that the best place to use our economy's shrinking CO2 allocation?
