I've arranged all the nations of the world in order of their CO2 emission. I've then added trendlines for the Alberta oil sands. Note that 150 nations emit less CO2 than the Alberat oil sands industry does just producing their oil. The full lifecycle emissions (wells-to-wheels) from the Alberta oil sands currently equals the emissions from #19 Spain and is on track to pass up #6 Germany by 2020. Currently proposed oil sands projects would lead to the full annual CO2 impact exceeding #3 India today.
